What to expect:-
We cover the following topics in line with the Key Stage 3 curriculum over the period while your child is in Year 9.
- Number – Review fractions, decimals and percentages. Index laws. Prime factorisation.
- Algebra – Inequalities. Expanding double brackets. Factorising quadratics. Coordinates. Linear graphs.
- Ratio and Proportion – Simplifying ratios. Sharing a ratio – where one part is known.
- Geometry – 3D shapes. Surface area and volume of prisms. Pythagoras’ theorem. Right-angled trigonometry.
- Statistics – Interpreting and drawing pie charts.
Your child will be given a piece of homework to complete each week. This will usually be consolidation of the learning from each lesson. Any homework they find difficult and not able to do on their own will then be re-addressed in the following lesson.
